Odell IL....An Icon brought back to life

Odell IL is a small town and a stop we had to make our this journey.  Odell boasts the original Historical Standard Oil Gas Station now beautifully preserved by the town.   The underground passage way is another of its quirky Mother Road landmarks.  The underground passage way was a tunnel that needed for people to cross the street to get to church due to the volume of traffic on RT 66.  When they built the four lane bypass a few blocks away the road because De-certified and the tunnel was filled in with concrete and dirt.
Bill and I relax, stretch our legs and meet a couple driving a camper from Switzerland. We stop in the  place which is now like a museum and met Karin working behind the cash register.  I bought some postcards to send and we chatted her up a bit and got back on the road...
That is Bill drinking a RT 66 Root Beer.  To the right of Bill's ear you on the board I left my Travel Consultant Card
Karin loved to show off the Cash Register
